چکیده

Abstract Zero-valent iron has been used for more than 130 years water treatment. It is based on redox reactions as well sorption to the corrosion products of iron. successfully applied removal metals and organic pollutants from groundwater wastewater. There are different variations how zero-valent can be used, especially (i) permeable reactive barriers, (ii) fluidized bed reactors (iii) nanoscale Permeable barriers in situ treatment trench-like constructions or a funnel gate system. Their advantages low maintenance cost, inexpensive construction prevention excavation wastes, their disadvantages surface passivation clogging pores by products. nanoparticles injected directly contaminated soil groundwater. higher reactivity coarse-grained mobility subsurface reach areas. However, they also have some major like fast ageing system, phytotoxicity, agglomeration during migration high costs. The latest development process (“ferrodecont process”) which avoids observed costs toxicity issues First results this technology Cr(VI) organically groundwaters metal industrial wastewaters highly promising.

Application of nanoscale zero valent iron (NZVI) for groundwater remediation in Europe.

PURPOSE Nanoscale zero valent iron (NZVI) is emerging as a new option for the treatment of contaminated soil and groundwater targeting mainly chlorinated organic contaminants (e.g., solvents, pesticides) and inorganic anions or metals. The purpose of this article is to give a short overview of the practical experience with NZVI applications in Europe and to present a comparison to the situation...

Zero Valent Iron (ZVI) nanocomposite for the removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solution

S. Ponmani and C. Udayasoorian Abstract -A new class of nano scale zero valent iron (nZVI) particles supported on activated carbon (AC) were synthesized and the feasibility of using nanocomposite (AC+nZVI) for the removal of Cr(VI) in water was investigated through laboratory batch test. Nanocomposite was synthesized by impregnating carbon with ferrous sulfate followed by chemical reduction wit...
